Job Description

Lewis Rice LLC, a large downtown St. Louis law firm, has an opening for an Asbestos Paralegal. This position requires an undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience. A minimum of five years of litigation experience and a Paralegal certificate are preferred.

Qualified candidates will have the following: organizational skills, the ability to proactively manage deadlines, critical thinking skills, the ability to work independently and on a team, hybrid work competency, writing skills, the ability to communicate professionally, and the ability to utilize technology resources to support clients and attorneys.

The hours of the position are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position offers an excellent salary commensurate with experience and an excellent comprehensive benefits package, including major medical plans, a 401(k) plan, and paid parking.

Responsibilities
  • Reviews documents provided by clients or other parties at the request of asbestos attorneys
  • Prepares, organizes, and maintains files
  • Assists attorneys with preparation for trials, hearings, closings, and other matters
  • Other tasks as requested by the attorney and/or supervisor
  • Must maintain confidentiality of client matters
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of five years of experience and a Paralegal certificate are preferred
  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and materials
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Computer Programs (particularly Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel) and the Internet
  • Organizational, time management, and prioritization skills are required
  • Knowledge of general office procedures is required; knowledge of law firm office procedures is preferred
  • Ability to deal tactfully, effectively, and professionally with staff, attorneys, court officials, other government officials, and the general public is required
