Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Labor and Employment Paralegal to support attorneys in handling a wide range of employment law matters. The ideal candidate will have experience with litigation and administrative proceedings related to labor and employment law, and be familiar with federal, state, and local employment regulations. This role will also assist in other practice groups such as insurance defense and general litigation (as needed).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist attorneys with all phases of labor and employment matters, including litigation, arbitration, and administrative proceedings (e.g., EEOC, DOL, NLRB).
  • Conduct legal and factual research related to employment law issues.
  • Draft, review, and organize legal documents such as discovery responses, motions, position statements, and employment agreements.
  • Manage case files and maintain document management systems, ensuring timely filing and compliance with procedural rules.
  • Assist with internal investigations, including organizing interviews, reviewing personnel records, and preparing investigation summaries.
  • Support compliance and HR teams with employment-related audits, policy updates, and training initiatives.
  • Prepare exhibits, binders, and other materials for hearings, depositions, or trials.
  • Monitor deadlines, court calendars, and hearing dates.
  • Communicate with clients, government agencies, courts, and opposing counsel as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:

  • Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years of paralegal experience
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws such as FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, and related regulations, preferred
  • Experience with e-filing in state and federal courts and administrative agencies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal case management software (e.g., Relativity, CaseMap, or similar platforms).
  • Excellent organizational, research, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written
  • Strong command of the English language, including excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation, form and style
  • Ability to create, compose, proof and edit correspondence
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point)
  • Database and records management skills
  • Ability to keep case on track and maintain case/trial deadlines
  • Possess and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Possess strong organizational, prioritization and delegation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Impeccable attendance and punctuality and a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressured environment
  • Able to develop a strong rapport with various department staff earning trust and respect

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This work is physical in nature and requires the following physical activities:

  • No or very limited physical effort required
  • Work is normally performed in a typical office interior/office work environment
