Job Title: Estate Planning Paralegal

FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt
Statement of Purpose:
The Purpose of the Estate Planning Paralegal position is to support attorneys and clients by facilitating the estate planning process from start to finish. With a client-centered approach, this role ensures that estate plans are accurately developed, clearly communicated, and efficiently executed – helping clients achieve peace of mind in planning for the future.
Objectives, tasks, duties, functions & responsibilities:
- Review estate plan design elements and financial information for/with assigned clients
- Communicate with clients via phone to verify and confirm planning details
- Enter client data and draft estate planning documents with accuracy and attention to detail
- Maintain organized client files and monitor progress toward completion of each estate plan
- Lead or assist in client meetings to review documents, gather signatures, and provide clarification as needed.
- Support and/or facilitate client workshops to execute documents and fund trusts
- Follow up with clients to ensure timely completion of trust funding and plan implementation
Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
Qualifications / Specific Skills required:
- Minimum 2 years of client service experience
- 2 or more years of experience in a financial services setting or estate planning and legal document drafting experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple client files and deadlines efficiently
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team
Work Location: Primarily based in the Grand Rapids office, with travel to Portage, Holland, and Norton Shores for client workshops and meetings as needed.
