Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Paralegal with expertise in property and casualty (P&C) insurance, particularly in personal lines. This role will be instrumental in supporting our legal and compliance team with corporate governance, managing deadlines, tracking critical regulatory issues, and compiling meaningful data for informed decision-making. The role also includes handling subpoenas, managing intellectual property, and performing various administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Insurance Compliance: Support compliance with regulatory requirements for personal lines insurance across the U.S. and Canada, including monitoring state and provincial laws, regulations, and filing requirements.
  • Corporate Governance: Assist with governance matters, including preparing meeting agendas, minutes, maintaining records, and supporting board activities.
  • Data Tracking & Reporting: Identify, track, and analyze relevant data to support regulatory and compliance activities, creating reports that provide meaningful insights for informed oversight and strategic decision-making.
  • Deadline and Issue Tracking: Manage and track important deadlines, filings, and deliverables, ensuring timely completion. Maintain organized records and calendars for compliance deadlines and other legal obligations.
  • Subpoena and IP Management: Handle subpoenas with attorney oversight and manage the intellectual property portfolio, including trademark filings and renewals.
  • Documentation Management: Assist with the preparation, review, and organization of contracts, policies, and other documents.
  • Administrative Support: Perform administrative tasks, such as processing expenses, preparing presentations, and creating PowerPoint slides, to support the legal team’s operations.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the legal and compliance team, and other departments to support insurance-related initiatives and projects.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal certification required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of paralegal experience in property and casualty insurance, with a strong preference for personal lines expertise. Corporate governance experience preferred, but not required.
  • Skills:
    • Intellectually curious and willing to dive into a number of projects
    • Strong organizational skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of corporate governance principles and regulatory compliance.
    • Proven ability to identify, track, and report meaningful data for informed oversight.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in legal research tools, document management systems, Microsoft Office suite, Boardvantage and experience with data tracking and reporting tools.

The base salary for this role can range from $100k-$120k, based on a full-time work schedule. An individual’s ultimate compensation will vary depending on job-related skills and experience, geographic location, alignment with market data, and equity among other team members with comparable experience.
