
Barrasso Usdin Kupperman Freeman & Sarver, L.L.C. is a litigation law firm based in New Orleans, Louisiana. We are hiring for a litigation assistant to join our team, to help with overflow. The principal duties and responsibilities include:
- Provide legal support to attorneys, assistants, and paralegals
- Provide interim coverage for other assistants in their absence
- Handle “overflow” from other assistants
- Transcribe dictation
- Prepare, edit, finalize, and file pleadings and other legal documents in State & Federal Court
- Handle various faxing, copying, scanning, binding, and mailing requests, among other tasks
- Schedule appointments, answer phones, make travel arrangements, organize meetings, manage attorney calendars, and prepare expense reports
Ideal candidates should have 3+ years of law firm experience, 70+ wpm typing speed, excellent computer skills (including familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe, document management software, and time & billing software), experience with electronic filings in State & Federal Courts, and excellent accuracy, grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills. The candidate must work well with others, and have strong organizational skills and good attention to detail. Experience working with insurance defense attorneys preferred.

Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:15 p.m., 1-hour lunch
Occasional overtime
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time while operating a computer.
- Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on a computer or other related office equipment.
- Must be able to move around the office to access files, packages, office machinery, etc.
- Occasionally must be able to move files or equipment weighing 10-15 pounds.
