Clear Career Professionals See More Job Openings by This EmployerThe City Attorney/Prosecutor position for the City of Aransas Pass is a contract position responsible for providing both legal and Municipal Court prosecution services. The City Attorney/Prosecutor provides sound legal advice and representation to the City Council and City management as necessary. The position plays an important role in assisting the City in offering guidance on public policy decisions and providing legal and efficient services to the public. The position is appointed and serves at the pleasure of the City Council.
It is important for the person appointed to this position to be knowledgeable in Texas municipal law. In addition, the City is involved in leasing activities at their Port and the City Attorney/Prosecutor should be knowledgeable about real estate law. Specific experience with the Open Meetings Act and Texas Public Information statutes is also strongly preferred for this position. This position will require attendance at bi-monthly City Council meetings and monthly
Municipal Court sessions as well as other meetings on an as needed basis.
The person appointed to this position must be a licensed attorney in good standing with the State Bar of Texas. In addition, they must have practiced law in the State of Texas for at least 7 years.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate for the City Attorney/Prosecutor position in Aransas Pass, Texas should be an experienced attorney with a knowledge of Texas municipal law. The individual appointed to this position will be responsible providing the City with sound legal advice and prosecuting cases in the Municipal Court. The candidate who is contracted for this position should demonstrate excellent communication skills. They should be capable of representing the City with litigation and assisting the City with negotiations of leases and contracts.
