Summary of the position:

Perform specifically delegated substantive legal work as directed. Legal work will include support of reviewing and drafting contracts related to HGAP’s business, working with internal departments, sales groups, and various teams. This position will also lead to maintain files of corporate records and manage contracts. Strong team building skills are necessary and the ability to work with various technical disciplines and internal company functions.

This is a full-time position located in either Chicago, Illinois or Michigan City, Indiana.   

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Draft and review contracts (distributor, service, supplier, NDA, compliance letter, etc.)
  • Support business conduct compliance programs and annual training.
  • Maintain record of pending legal questions and issues.
  • Administer systems information to track active litigation, service of process, corporate records (data entry, leadership team contact).
  • Maintain files and filing of corporate records and Board documents.
  • Assist with trademark filings and infringement and other IP matters
  • Assist and support development of new systems and processes.
  • General-related administrative duties including legal invoicing.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Paralegal certification preferred.
  • Notary certification preferred.

Professional experience:

  • Experience in paralegal, contract law, business, and industrial manufacturing preferred.
  • MS Office – expert level PowerPoint and Excel.
  • General computer systems competency.
  • Excellent writing, negotiation, and communication skills.
