General Job Summary
Provide comprehensive and advanced in-house legal support for the General Counsel in planning legal and regulatory matters, anticipating legal risks in business processes and assist with business decision-making.
Essential Function and Responsibilities
Advise on complex contracting matters including where necessary coordinating and consulting with external legal support.
Draft legal documents and negotiate agreements
Analyze consumer financial protection regulations
Grant notarization of documents such as interrogatories, transfers of rights, statistical reports, and bonds; take statements from managers and employees.
Responsible, under General Counsel supervision, for business operational and strategic matters accordingly with transaction, merger and acquisitions, purchase agreement, NDA and legal matter related with the level role.
Provide day-to-day operational support of legal and regulatory matters in support of the business.
Represent the company in all legal proceedings and attend court hearings and mediations.
In addition to contracts, oversees department matters and general legal concerns raised by internal customers and senior management.
Requirements
Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
Admitted to practice law and licensed as a Notary Public in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
A minimum of five years of experience in a financial institution as in-house counsel or law firm focused on corporate law.
