About the Position: This position provides legal services in a variety of substantive practice areas in support of the Caribbean District's missions but is expected to focus on providing legal advice on the Corps' Regulatory Program including advising on permitting, compliance, and enforcement matters; and representing the agency in related litigation. Duties- Provides legal services in a variety of practice areas that are expected to include advising the Caribbean District's Regulatory Program.
- Furnishes expert legal advice and advocacy regarding environmental, administrative, cultural, and natural resource matters arising from implementation of the Regulatory Program.
- Identifies, researches, and addresses extremely complex and difficult legal questions affecting the Agency's missions.
- Provides legal advice and advocacy regarding regulatory enforcement cases involving unauthorized activity and permit non-compliance.
- Serves as Agency counsel and assists the Department of Justice in litigation before U.S. federal courts, such as challenges to permit decisions.
- Provides legal services on regulatory taking cases, which often involve complex factual issues requiring extensive research, analysis, and expert testimony.
- Advises and communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with senior leadership and team members at all levels.
