This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, mission-driven attorney to work closely with senior leadership and gain hands-on experience in environmental law, nonprofit governance, and implementation of groundbreaking EPR programs across multiple states.

Key Responsibilities

1. Contract Support

  • Assist in the development and refinement of contract templates and contribute to the implementation and ongoing support of a contract lifecycle management (CLM) system.
  • Help ensure contract compliance and maintain contract records.

2. Legal & Regulatory Research

  • Conduct legal research on federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including those related to environmental regulations and EPR legislation.
  • Draft legal memoranda and summaries to inform internal decision-making.
  • Assist in ensuring organizational compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

3. Governance & Corporate Support

  • Support the General Counsel in maintaining corporate records.
  • Help maintain state corporate registrations, charitable registrations and other organizational filings.

4. Intellectual Property & Confidentiality

  • Assist in the development and implementation of internal policies to safeguard CAA’s intellectual property and proprietary information.
  • Conduct IP and trademark research; help monitor and enforce trademark usage and brand protection efforts.

5. Litigation & General Corporate Law Support

  • Support the General Counsel in managing outside counsel, litigation, and various regulatory matters.
  • Assist in drafting and updating internal policies.

Skills & Competencies

  • Experience with contract drafting and negotiation, regulatory compliance, or nonprofit governance.
  • Familiarity with environmental law, administrative law, or EPR regulations.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school.
  • Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state.
  • 3–5 years of relevant legal experience (law firm, in-house, government or nonprofit).
  • Strong legal research, writing and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in environmental law, nonprofit organizations, or circular economy solutions.
