The Dougherty County Probate Court is hiring for a Part Time Court Clerk. The purpose of this position is to assist the Chief Clerk with the daily operations of Probate Court. Responsible for issuing and recording legal documents and performing general administrative duties.

This class works under close supervision according to set procedures.

Essential Tasks

Essential Tasks:

• Prepares and processes vital records.

• Responds to public requests for vital records, such as birth certificates, death certificates, and marriage licenses; records information in log book.

• Makes certified copies of legal documents.

• Prepares daily cash receipts statements.

• Processes firearm permits and enters data into the computer.

• Sorts mail, answers the telephone, and provides general clerical support.

• Performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Qualification

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

• One (1) year of administrative support experience, in a court environment preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Physical Demands: Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

• Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment): Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
