Position Overview:
The Senior Counsel will be responsible for managing and overseeing legal matters related to Ideal Living’s commercial contracts and marketing activities. This will report directly to Ideal Living’s General Counsel. You will work closely with marketing teams to review and advise on promotional materials and campaigns, manage contract negotiations, and support brand protection efforts. In addition, you will partner with internal stakeholders to structure, draft, and negotiate a wide variety of vendor and other commercial agreements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and advise on marketing and promotional materials and campaigns across multiple formats (e.g., print, digital, social media, video, etc.) to ensure compliance with legal requirements, intellectual property (IP) and brand policies and guidelines.
- Review marketing materials, offers, disclaimers, and claim substantiation and advise on regular updates to terms and conditions, promotions, sweepstakes, contests, and other marketing efforts.
- Support brand protection/enforcement efforts.
- Stay abreast of relevant market, legal and regulatory developments affecting marketing.
- Partner with our marketing teams to understand their priorities and help them to achieve their objectives.
- Monitor the competitive landscape and track potential IP infringement, providing analysis and recommendations to inform enforcement strategies and protect brand integrity.
- Manage contract drafting, review, and negotiation across a wide range of commercial agreements, including, but not limited to, SaaS vendor agreements, independent contractor, marketing and advertising agreements, and technology agreements.
Qualification Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active state bar member in good standing of at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in legal practice, with a focus on commercial contracts and/or marketing review.
- Strong knowledge of intellectual property laws and brand protection strategies.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- In-house experience is a plus.
