L3Harris Technologies is seeking an accomplished and visionary Senior Principal, Counsel, to lead our global legal team. The ideal candidate will be a strategic partner to the legal leadership team, providing expert legal advice and support on a wide range of complex legal and business issues. This role requires exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to navigate a dynamic and highly regulated industry.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead and manage the global legal department, including hiring, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team of legal professionals.
  • Advise on corporate governance matters, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and corporate policies.
  • Oversee the drafting, review, and negotiation of complex contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to protect the company's interests.
  • Provide legal guidance on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions.
  • Manage and mitigate legal risks by developing and implementing effective legal strategies and risk management processes.
  • Oversee litigation and dispute resolution matters, working closely with external counsel as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with international, federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including those related to export controls, government contracts, and data privacy.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement company policies and procedures that align with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Represent the company in interactions with regulatory authorities, industry groups, and other external stakeholders.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on legal topics and best practices to foster a culture of compliance and ethical behavior. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
  • 15 years of relevant legal experience, including significant experience in a senior leadership role within a corporate legal department or law firm.
  • Extensive knowledge of corporate law, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and litigation.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex legal matters and leading a high-performing legal team. 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience in the aerospace and defense industry.
  • Familiarity with international laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate and influence in a highly regulated and complex industry.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
